3 things we check on every dental website

You can tell if a dental website is losing patients in about ten seconds. Here’s what we look at first.

We review a lot of dental websites, and the same three problems come up again and again. Each one quietly sends patients to another practice, and each one is a quick fix.

1. The lock. Open your site in Chrome or Safari. If the address bar says “Not Secure”, many visitors leave before the page finishes loading. It means the site has no valid security certificate. Your web host or developer can usually fix this in a day.

2. Can a patient call you with one tap? Open your site on your phone. Your phone number should be at the top of the page and start a call when tapped. If a patient has to scroll, zoom or copy the number, plenty of them call the next office instead.

3. Is there a Book button without scrolling? The first screen on a phone should show who you are, what you do and a clear way to book. If booking is hidden in a menu or a contact form at the bottom, you’re losing the patients who were ready to book right now.
